We collect the following categories of information when you use Chaptrly: • Account data: email address and hashed password when you register. • Usage data: YouTube URLs you submit, generated chapters, descriptions, and keywords associated with your account. • Usage metrics: number of generation requests made each month, plan tier, and reset dates. • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and access timestamps collected automatically via server logs.

We use the information we collect to: • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service. • Enforce plan limits and process subscription billing. • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset). • Monitor for abuse or violations of our Terms of Service. • Analyse aggregate usage patterns to improve product features. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted on infrastructure compliant with industry-standard security practices. Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed using bcrypt before storage. We implement Row Level Security (RLS) so that each user can only access their own data. Access to production databases is restricted to authorised personnel only.

Chaptrly uses the following third-party services that may process your data: • Supabase — authentication and database storage (supabase.com). • OpenAI — AI text generation from transcript data (openai.com). Transcripts sent to OpenAI are processed per their data usage policies. • YouTube / Google — public transcript access via the YouTube Transcript API. No private YouTube data is accessed. • Razorpay — payment processing. Card details are never stored by Chaptrly. Each provider has their own privacy policy which we encourage you to review.

Chaptrly uses minimal, essential cookies for session management (Supabase authentication tokens). We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but this will prevent you from remaining logged in to the Service.

We retain your account data and generation history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated personal data and generation history is permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data: • Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you. • Correction: request correction of inaccurate data. • Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data. • Portability: request an export of your data in a machine-readable format. • Objection: object to certain types of processing. The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Our third-party service providers (including OpenAI and Supabase) operate infrastructure in the United States and other countries. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your data may be processed outside India by these providers, each of whom operates under their own data protection policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
